The budget details screen is where you can manage and monitor the progress of your budget in real-time. Whether you’ve created a recurring budget or an event budget, this screen provides you with all the key information you need to track your spending and make adjustments as necessary. Let’s break down everything you’ll find on the budget details screen to help you get the most out of it.
Budget details screen: track your progress
Once you create a budget, both Recurring and Event budgets have a dedicated budget details screen to help you track your progress in real-time. This screen provides essential information at a glance, so you can easily manage your spending. Here's what you’ll see:
- Budget amount: this is the total budget you set when creating the budget.
- Spent information: The app shows how much of your total budget has been spent so far, helping you understand your current spending status.
- Money left: This feature shows how much money remains in your budget for the period, giving you clear visibility over your financial limits.
- Time left: For recurring budgets, you can also see how much time is left in the current budget period, whether it's a week, month, or year. Event budgets may not have an end date, but you can still track your progress throughout the event's duration.
- Spending progress line: on the budget details screen, there’s a visual spending progress line. This line is divided linearly, showing how much time has passed in the current period and how your spending is tracking in relation to that. It helps you better understand the dynamics of your expenses.
- If your spending is on track, the progress line remains blue.
- If you have gone beyond the budget, the line turns red to indicate overspending. Any additional spending past the budget limit is shown in blue above the line, so you can see how much you've overspent.
- Share budget with others. Keep track of your expenses with your partner, family or roommates.
- If this is a recurring budget, you'll see it in the current period. You can always view information about previous periods as well.
- The categories you selected for the budget are below the main information. You set limits for the categories, so you can always understand your expenses in these categories.
- Like the budget line, this shows expenses in blue (8.1). It turns red when we overspend (8.2).
This detailed breakdown and visual representation make it easier to see whether you’re staying within budget or need to adjust your spending habits.
- If you swipe on the main screen, you’ll access additional insights:
- A pie chart showing expenses by category will appear, breaking down your spending into categories like food, entertainment, or housing. (8.1)
- By clicking on the Accounts button below the chart, the display will change to show expenses by accounts, providing a financial overview based on your and shared accounts. (8.2)
- The categories you selected for the budget are below the main information. You set limits for the categories, so you can always understand your expenses in these categories.
- Like the budget line, this shows expenses in blue (9.1). It turns red when we overspend (9.2).
This detailed breakdown and visual representation make it easier to see whether you’re staying within budget or need to adjust your spending habits.
Period reports for recurring budgets
For Recurring budgets, you’ll have access to Period reports. These reports show detailed summaries of your spending for previous periods, allowing you to monitor your financial behavior over time.
With premium subscriptions, the Grassfeld goes further by using AI-powered predictions to forecast your spending for the upcoming period. These prediction are based on your recurring expenses and past spending habits, helping you plan ahead with greater accuracy and confidence.
To-Do list for event budgets
In addition to managing your finances, event budgets come with a to-do list feature. This helps you keep track of important tasks and plans for big events like holidays, parties, or special occasions. Don’t forget anything—write it down! Later, you can even link transactions to any item on your to-do list, ensuring that your spending aligns with your plans.
