Grassfeld lets you create savings goals, such as saving for a house deposit, while connecting your current account from a supported Dutch bank.
Grassfeld is a personal finance management app that helps you organise your money, monitor spending and plan for future expenses. Here is how its savings goals and Dutch bank connections work.
Bank compatibility: does Grassfeld work with Dutch banks?
Grassfeld supports all major banks in the Netherlands, as well as major banks across the rest of the EU, the USA and Canada. The United Kingdom is not yet supported.
You can connect eligible current accounts to bring your transactions into one financial overview. European savings accounts, however, cannot be connected automatically. This doesn’t stop you from saving in the app. You have two options:
- Track from your current account. Link the transactions you move to savings from a synced current account to your savings goal.
- Add a manual savings account. Create a manual account for your savings, so your savings balance is part of your overview. You can update it yourself or import its data from a file.
How to plan a house deposit
You can create a savings goal for a specific purchase, such as a house deposit, and set the amount you want to save. You can then:
- Set a target amount for your goal.
- See your contribution plan and how much you need to put aside.
- Track your progress as you make contributions.
This gives you a clearer view of how far you are from your target and makes a distant purchase easier to plan.
A house deposit goal is a planning tool, not a mortgage eligibility. Choose a target based on your circumstances, check that your planned contributions fit alongside your regular expenses, and review your plan whenever your income or spending changes. The good news is that Grassfeld Intelligence can provide further insights into this, based on your data.
How to track contributions from different accounts
You can link transactions to a savings goal to keep track of the money you contribute. Contributions can come from more than one account, so you can monitor progress even if you set money aside from different sources.
Which plan do you need?
Grassfeld offers two subscription plans, which differ in bank connection limits and sharing features. Savings goals are included in both.
Light: €1.99 per month or €21.99 per year (€1.83 per month). It includes a 14-day free trial, one bank account connection, savings goals, budgets, debt and loan tracking, and access to Grassfeld Intelligence.
Premium+: €3.99 per month or €43.99 per year (€3.66 per month). There is no free trial.
It includes everything in Light, plus unlimited bank account connections, advanced analytics, unlimited financial reports, and the ability to share savings goals and budgets with other users.
If you manage your finances across several current accounts, Premium+ gives you more flexibility. If you only need one bank connection to plan your savings, Light is enough.
Can you use Grassfeld to save for a house deposit?
Yes. You can set a house deposit target, plan your contributions and track your progress, while keeping an overview of the transactions from your connected Dutch current account.
